Lobeč: Hotels and Accommodation

Lobeč combines an exceptional brewing history with castle architecture, ecclesiastical monuments, the legacy of educator Eduard Štorch, and a landscape of mountains and hiking trails. Among its cultural landmarks is the steam-powered brewery in Lobeč: it is a technical monument and bears witness to a five-hundred-year brewing tradition in Kokořínsko.

Culture and History

The Lobeč chateau complex, with its farmyard and park, has been an immovable cultural monument since 1966. Jan Ignác Věžník remodeled the chateau in the Baroque style in 1724; it has essentially been preserved in this form to the present day. The extensively reconstructed chateau now serves as a guesthouse.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross also spans several eras: it was originally Gothic, was mentioned as a parish church in the 14th century, remodeled around 1532, and later restored in the Baroque style.

Eduard Štorch’s Legacy

At the Eduard Štorch Museum, an exhibition presents him as a progressive educator and educational innovator, researcher, amateur archaeologist, writer, and rebel. On display are personal belongings, correspondence, notes, illustrations, teaching aids, and a library.

The Eduard Štorch thematic educational trail passes through places connected with the novel Minehava and includes true-to-scale replicas of some of his teaching methods. Eduard Štorch’s grave is also located in the local cemetery in Lobeč, where visitors can look for it.

Trails and Landscape

A blue hiking route from the direction of Mšeno runs through the Lobeč village heritage zone. The surroundings of Lobeč include the ruins of Starý Berštejn and the mountains Nedvězí [Dubá-Dražejov], Berkovský vrch, Lysá, and Hořice.

Cuisine and Traditions

The taproom at Pivovar Lobeč offers traditional Czech cuisine and its own craft-brewed beer. The traditional Lobeč Masopust includes a masked procession through the village, with stops at neighbors’ homes, the brewery, and the chateau; afterwards, entertainment takes place at the Sokolovna.
