Herink: Hotels and Accommodation

Herink can be explored via the municipal walking tour “Máme rádi Herink”. It is an entertaining, educational walk through the village. At the stops marked on a map, QR code signs display information, pictures or maps of the respective location.

History

Part of Na Hrázi Street was formerly the dam of the largest of several ponds in Herink; it held back water from the Osnický stream and the surrounding fields. In 1908, a chapel was built on Staré návsi next to a granite cross. The chapel built there in 1908 is still considered a worthwhile destination for walks today.

During a rescue excavation in the area of the Čistička station, settlement traces were discovered within the cadastral area of Herink. The oldest settlement identified there dates back to the 6th to 5th century BC. The archaeological site of Čistička yielded the remains of large above-ground wooden structures, pottery fragments and a glass bead.

In Tvrzka, earthworks were discovered during maintenance of the stream bed in the 1930s.

Nature

Lípa u transformátoru in Herink is a protected individual tree; it was first designated as such on January 25, 1983.

The V topolech pond, also called Na obci, was formerly a meeting place for the entire village for burning witches, ice skating in winter and summer neighborhood gatherings around a fire. When the weather was suitable, young people from the entire surrounding area went swimming there.

In the immediate vicinity of Herink are the named Práče Fortress and the named hills Petrovy vrchy [Popovičky - Chomutovice], Skalka [Strančice-Předboř] and (Na Padesátce) [Petříkov u Velkých Popovic]. Veslařský ostrov is a named island in the vicinity of Herink.
