Šestajovice combines local history, hands-on experiences and routes through green spaces. RODAS Šestajovice is home to the first Czech museum of wax production and nativity scenes. Visitors can take excursions in the grounds, make their own products in the workshops, visit the Museum of Wax Production and Nativity Scenes, and visit the minifarm. The chocolate, candle and soap manufactory workshops, as well as the minifarm, are open to the public according to the stated schedule.

Culture and local history

The historic centre of Šestajovice is located on and around Náměstí 9. května. There is an oval green area, a chapel, a monument to those who fell in the world wars and seating. The first buildings that formed the foundation of the municipality of Šestajovice were built in these locations at the beginning of the 13th century.

Nature

The Botanical Garden in Šestajovice is freely accessible. Visitors can use benches and a covered seating area, which is part of the adjacent cycle path.

The Klánovický les forest also extends into the territory of Šestajovice. Several marked hiking trails and two cycle loops lead through the forest. The “Naučná stezka Klánovickým lesem” educational trail is 12.5 km long, has 17 stops and begins at Praha-Klánovice railway station. The “Návštěva lesa” route is 3 km long and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

Walking and outdoor activities

The cycle path in Šestajovice includes a precisely 800 m-long loop and a 190 m-long section along the embankment. The field avenues of Šestajovice follow historic corridors of field paths and are now used for walking and sports. Polní alej Běchovická continues to serve as a connection for pedestrians and cyclists between Šestajovice and Klánovice.

Seasonal uses are also part of the local landscape: Vodní nádrž Beranka reservoir is used for ice skating in winter. The upper part of the Val u ČOV embankment has a platform that can be used for outdoor sports or for relaxing on a blanket; in winter, the embankment is used for sledding.
