Křečovice: Hotels and accommodations

In Křečovice, the local history surrounding Josef Suk stands alongside distinctive architectural and roadside details. The Josef Suk Memorial is located in the house where Josef Suk spent a significant part of his life.

Culture

The Church of Saint Luke is a single-nave building with an irregular floor plan and a massive, eccentrically positioned northern tower. It has a Renaissance high altar with a canvas painting created in 1840. Next to a side entrance, a sculpture referred to as a “pagan god” is set into the exterior plaster.

Along Sukova alej, stones bearing the carved names of Josef Suk’s works are set into the ground. The film “My Sweet Little Village” was also filmed in Křečovice in 1984 and 1985.

Visiting

Josef Suk’s birthplace room is located in the Josef Suk primary school and kindergarten in Křečovice and is accessible exclusively through the cemetery. Visits to the birthplace room must be arranged with the Křečovice municipal office. It is open on the last Sunday in May, when a memorial concert for Josef Suk takes place in the Church of Saint Luke.

Routes

Sukova alej runs along the northeastern edge of Křečovice, parallel to the road to Strážovice. The cycling circuit to the Drahoušek lookout tower passes through Křečovice between Vlkonice and Osečany. The protected Křečovický potok area can be reached via the red-marked trail from Křečovice to Osečany.
