The history of Zádolí can be traced through several precisely documented points in time and combines historical place references with cultural traces and regional hiking trails.

History

Zádolí is recorded as “Sadoly” on Müller’s map from 1720 and is considered the oldest known mention of the settlement to date. Jaroslav Schaller’s topography recorded 14 houses in Zádolí in 1788. In 1848, František Palacký recorded 19 houses and 162 inhabitants there.

Culture

The amateur theater group “Josef Kajetán Tyl” was founded in Zádolí in 1929. Its members also established a library in Zádolí with more than 300 volumes. The local commemorative landscape also includes the war memorial, which was created by local stonemason František Tabulka and unveiled in 1936.

Traditions

A traditional neighborhood gathering took place in Zádolí in October, where children could hollow out and carve pumpkins together with their parents. On December 1, a traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony with Christmas carols and mulled wine was held in Zádolí.

Nature and regional connections

The wider area around Neveklov is important for hiking tourism. From Neveklov, Benešov, the administrative center, is about half an hour away by bus. The red-marked Sedlčany–Neveklov hiking trail passes through Zádolí.
