Nové Hrady: Hotels and Accommodation
Nové Hrady Castle is a gate castle with two gates facing each other and a deep moat. It was founded by the Vítkovci in the second half of the 13th century.
Culture
The Buquoy Tomb still contains eight coffins with the mortal remains of members of the Buquoy family, including three married couples, as well as relatives from the Cappy family.
The Buquoy Tomb consists of a crypt on the ground floor and a chapel on the upper floor.
Following reconstruction, the Buquoy interiors with numerous family portraits and mementos of the family's military glory can be viewed at Nové Hrady Castle. The manor official's apartment also presents bourgeois living at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Buquoy Tomb is open to the public at designated visiting times.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul is open to the public during regular services. Tours of the church and monastery are possible only during the summer tourist season or by prior arrangement.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Nové Hrady preserves Early Baroque furnishings from the third quarter of the 17th century.
Its Late Gothic net vault in the presbytery is considered the most perfect in South Bohemia.
Since 2003, the Rožmberk association has organized various events, courses, and activities at the Novohradská Forge. These include traditional Easter gatherings, Bramborování na kovárně at the end of October, and Čertovské kování at the beginning of December.
The Novohradská Forge is a valuable example of a smithy founded by Ferdinand Grössinger in 1719.
