Otmíče: Otmíčská hora, Hradiště and Chapel

The ramparts of the Otmíčská hora Hradiště in the north and east are clearly visible and 4–5 m wide. The small La Tène-period Hradiště near Otmíče covers approximately 2.8 hectares. It consists of an acropolis and possible outer baileys to the northeast and east, and is surrounded by stone ramparts. In the built-up area of Otmíče, the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk stands on the village square. It is a masonry building on a rectangular ground plan with a three-sided termination and a small bell tower rising from the roof ridge. Archaeological finds indicate that Otmíče was settled earlier than previously dated.

The summit of Otmíčská hora lies at an elevation of 401 m in the Hořovická pahorkatina and forms a distinctive landmark. The geological site features basalt rock. An abandoned wall-stone quarry is located on the summit and on the steep southwestern and southern slopes. Thermophilous plants of rocky steppes and woodland plants of oak-hornbeam vegetation grow on diabase at Otmíčská hora. Those who want to read nature and history side by side can arrange rock, relief and plants as three separate focal points for observation.

The geological site of Otmíčská hora lies 500 m south of Otmíče and can be reached from the road via a walkable tourist path. A marked blue hiking trail leads from Žebrák through Chlustina, Praskolesy and Otmíče to Lochovice. The path-related themes help distinguish conceptually between a visit to the locality and a hike leading through several stops.
