History and Sacred Buildings

The history of Železná includes the historical mining of iron ore, which gave the settlement its name. The parish church was extensively renovated in 1681 and completely remodeled in the Baroque style in 1777.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was first mentioned in the mid-14th century and served as a spiritual center for the surrounding area. At the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, a one-class trivial school was established at the parish; it is first mentioned in 1711.
