Stašov: Hotels and Accommodation

Stašov lies on a gently sloping hillside open to the north and west above the valley of the Červený potok and in the northeastern part of the Hořovická pahorkatina.

The surroundings of Stašov include Plešivec Mountain, Holý vrch Mountain, Hradec Mountain and Hřeben Mountain, as well as the Church of Svatý Jiří.

History and Crafts

Stašov is first mentioned in a document dated 1085, by which the Bohemian King Vratislav II donated the villages of Stašov and Žíňany near Benešov to Ostrov Monastery.

Nail making (cvočkařství) was a main source of livelihood in Stašov from the late 18th century to the first half of the 19th century. Nail makers were itinerant smiths who sold iron goods. Historical lime kilns stood at several locations in Stašov, including at the intersection of the road from Stašov with the Zdice–Příbram road, at the Cikoška site and below the railway line.

The memorial to those who fell in the First World War was ceremonially unveiled in Stašov on 28 October 1926; around 500 people attended the ceremony. The Husův balvan was unveiled in Stašov as part of the celebrations marking the tenth anniversary of Czechoslovakia's independence; the year 1928 was carved into the stone.

Culture and Events

The Staročeské máje is considered a traditional and very popular event in Stašov. In 2026, Pálení čarodějnic was scheduled to take place at the TJ Stašov sports grounds for operational reasons.
