Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav: Hotels and Accommodation

Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav combines significant historic buildings with preserved floodplain landscapes. Brandýs nad Labem Château is an important Renaissance building with preserved sgraffiti and was a popular summer residence of Emperor Rudolf II; since 2017, it has held the title of a national cultural monument.

Culture

In Stará Boleslav, the churches of St. Wenceslas and St. Clement are designated national cultural monuments. Inside the Church of St. Clement, Romanesque murals with scenes from the legend of St. Clement have been preserved.

The Brandýská Katovna is a Renaissance building probably constructed in the 16th century, with preserved sgraffito decoration. It is partially open to the public and houses an exhibition on criminal and torture law as well as the craft of the executioner.

The permanent exhibition in the Arnoldinovský House presents the Brandýska region in a mosaic-like fashion. The Jewish cemetery in Brandýs nad Labem was established in 1568 and expanded several times, most recently at the end of the 19th century; it contains 915 gravestones dating from 1572 to 1942.

Nature

Hluchov was designated a specially protected area in the category of natural monument in 1995. The area is a fragment of a floodplain forest between Brandýs nad Labem and Stará Boleslav and protects a remnant of floodplain forest with the typical flora and fauna of such forests. Hluchov also preserves typical floodplain forest communities in the valley floodplains of large rivers.

Visitor Information

Tickets to Brandýs Château include all-day admission to the park with mazes. The Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady and its ambits are open for sightseeing and private prayer every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the published operating period in 2026.

The free mobile escape game “Boleslav I. – od vraždy k moci” starts at the Basilica of St. Wenceslas. Proboštský Pond is used as a natural swimming area. The Svatý Václav boat carries bicycles and strollers; dogs are also allowed on board.
