Senohraby: Hotels and Accommodation

The educational and experiential trail “Vodnické vycházky” runs along the right bank of the Mnichovka to the Sázava. From there, visitors can reach Zlenice Castle, also known as Hláska, and try out a newly built viewpoint. The trail has 13 stops and is divided into three sections: Ondřejovská, Lensedelská and Senohrabská.

Trails and Water

A yellow-marked hiking trail connects Senohraby railway station with the ruins of Zlenice Castle. The traditional Senohraby ferry, which is operated using a simple pole, remains a tourist attraction to this day. Plovárna Senohraby is located on the right bank of the Sázava at river kilometre 37.6, at the confluence of the Sázava and the Mnichovka, between Senohraby and Čtyřkoly, opposite the Zlenice settlement.

On the banks of the Sázava, in the southeastern part of the area, is the seasonal Poddubí (U Bořka) recreation centre, which focuses on water tourism connected with the Sázava.

Culture and History

Zlenice Castle was founded after 1300 on a rocky promontory below which the Mnichovický stream flows into the Sázava. Today, only the ruins of the castle remain, commonly called Hláska after the dominant remains of the tower. The ski jump on the northern edge of Hláska Hill began operating on 15 January 1933.

The chapel in Senohraby is dedicated to Saint Adalbert and was built in 2010 and 2011 using donations from local residents. The complex of villas, tramp cottages and non-tramp cottages is a unique complex of historical value in the Czech lands. Since 1971, Senohraby has hosted the “Okolo hvězdárny k Ladově chalupě” hiking march.

In the wider regional surroundings of Senohraby are Práče Fortress, the Socha Jana Žižky monument, and the Loreta and Kostel svaté Ludmily churches.

Landscape

The Lipový vrch hill [Pyšely] is located in the immediate vicinity of Senohraby. The Vepří hill [Přestavlky u Čerčan] is also nearby. The Milíř hill [Velké Popovice-Lojovice] lies in the vicinity of Senohraby. The Žebrák mountain is located in the wider regional surroundings.

Winter

In connection with the Vávrův palouk ski resort in Senohraby, there are cross-country skiing trails in the cadastral areas of Senohraby and Pětihost. Various races take place there, including, for example, a Vasaloppet-style race for amateurs.
