Radíč: Hotels and Accommodations

Radíč Chateau was rebuilt as a single-storey early Baroque chateau by Karel Leopold Henegk in the second half of the 17th century, following the partial destruction by fire of the former Gothic knight’s castle. A Baroque hall is located on the first floor of the east wing; much of the stucco decoration and the 17th-century paintings inside have survived to this day.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built east of the chateau in 1683. It is dedicated to the cult of the Black Madonna, which is also identified with the Madonna of Einsiedeln. In front of the chapel stand two statues of saints—Saint Vitus and Saint John of Nepomuk—from 1713, from the workshop of Jan Brokoff.

From 1820 to 1830, Bernard Bolzano stayed at Radíč Chateau, when it belonged to JUDr. František Pistl; he hid there from persecution by the Austrian authorities.

The farmyard at Radíč Chateau comprises a barn, two granaries, the former brewery, a coach house, a perimeter wall closing off the courtyard to the east, and stable buildings. The structures date from the Baroque period of the 17th century and from the second half of the 19th century.

North of Radíč lies the ruins of Kozí Hřbet castle, surrounded by the Mastník stream.
