Újezd: Hotels and Accommodation

Near the Doubravka forester’s lodge, about 1.5 km west of Újezd, lies the fortified Doubravka site. Its well-preserved circular castle site has a diameter of about 14 metres; no visible wall remains survive, while the site is surrounded by a moat and rampart.

Culture and History

Újezd was first mentioned in official records in 1399 under the name “Oujezd čtyř konšelů”. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was opened and consecrated on 9 July 1899. It was commissioned by Jiří Štefan, who came from House No. 6.

Nature

More than half of Újezd’s area is covered by forests. A blue-marked hiking trail continues along a forest path to the partisan bunker. At the partisan bunker, there is a shelter with benches and a spring. The former partisan shelter has been filled in; a memorial now stands in its place.

Events

Every year, the summer dance venue hosts mainly rock concerts, as well as cultural and sporting events for children. SK Doubravan Újezd includes a sports complex with a grass pitch and players’ facilities, as well as the clubhouse “U Meruny”.
