Tehovec: Hotels and accommodations

Tehovec has a local history that can be traced back over several centuries. A possible first mention dates to the period from August 11 to 20, 1373, and is connected with a church dispute in Prague in which, among others, Ondřej from “Tehovec” is mentioned. An entry dated March 13, 1407, lists Tehovec among the villages acquired by the Monastery of St. Charles in the New Town.

The later history is also linked to specific events: The estate to which Tehovec belonged was sold to Prince Karl of Liechtenstein in 1623; his family held the domain until the land reform after the First World War. On April 28, 1866, a fire in Tehovec destroyed the farmsteads with house numbers 1 to 9, 14, 19, and 23, as well as the barns at houses 1, 2, 9, and 14.

Tehovec is said to have once been home to a significant pottery industry with weekly markets for pottery. On April 30, 2024, the maypole was traditionally erected and a witch-burning bonfire was held in the village square in Tehovec.

Landscape

The Rokytka stream rises near Tehovec. An entry in the land registers from 1513 lists Tehovec with two ponds. The Vysoký les [Klokočná] hill is located in the immediate vicinity of Tehovec. The hills (Na Marjánce) [Zvánovice], Skalka [Strančice-Předboř], and Dolánka [Tismice] are also located in the surroundings of Tehovec.

Nature

PSB Klokočná is a demonstration site of the state forestry administration for environmentally compatible management of state forests and is intended for professionals as well as the general public. The Klokočná educational trail begins near Tehovec-Vojkov at the start of the yellow-marked hiking route on the Prague–Kutná Hora road.
