Vinec: Hotels and Accommodation

Vinec is closely associated with the Church of St Nicholas, which is considered one of the most important Romanesque religious buildings in Bohemia and has been a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2008. Its unusual floor plan consists of a square nave and a polygonal presbytery. The portal is decorated with columns and a relief of the Crucifixion.

Culture and History

The listed church complex also includes a cemetery wall with a gate, object no. 1757/2, as well as a fragment of a stone cross, object no. 1757/3. An interior visit to the Church of St Nicholas was possible; the contact details for a guide were located at the cemetery gate.

Vinec’s listed cultural heritage also includes House No. 45, a two-storey log house with a gallery, dating from 1803. Only the residential part, object no. 3617, is protected. The house was part of a former large farm on the western edge of Vinec; House No. 45 is the only surviving building from the historical development of this former farm.

The history of the mill can also be traced through several structural remnants: the mill in Vinec was built in 1813 and had six millstones. The mill site in Vinec includes a preserved silo from 1932, bearing the emblem of Družstevní závody Dražice on its façade. In Podvinec, on the banks of the Jizera, a newly restored small hydroelectric power station stands opposite a mill that was abandoned long ago.

Routes

Cycle Route No. 143 runs through Vinec between Krnsko and ÄŒejetice. On the way to Vinec, Route 17 of the Jizera Greenway also follows the Jizera. The Jizera Greenway is suitable for cyclists, hikers and families with children, combining natural landscapes with cultural monuments. In addition, a red-marked hiking trail leads from Krnsko along the Jizera River to Vinec.
