Vysoký Újezd: Hotels and Accommodation

In Vysoký Újezd, the Kostel sv. Jakuba Většího church stands in a prominent position on the summit of a 318 m-high hill. From Vysoký Újezd, there is a view of the Orlické Mountains.

Culture and History

The church complex and its enclosure form a Romanesque village church complex with a cemetery, enclosed grounds, processional chapels, and a mortuary. At the same time, it is a protected cultural monument. The church itself dates from the middle of the 12th century. North of the Kostel sv. Jakuba Většího church, there is an ÚAN I-category archaeological area in Vysoký Újezd nad Dědinou. Excavations in Vysoký Újezd also uncovered a pagan cremation burial site.

The painter and professor Karel Meisner (1904–1979) was from Vysoký Újezd. A traditional Pálení čarodějnic takes place at the sports field.

Trails and Transport

A red-marked hiking trail leads through Vysoký Újezd and runs via Třebechovice pod Orebem, Jeníkovice, Vranov, Vodětín, and Opočno. In addition, Route No. 4166 runs via Ledce, Vysoký Újezd, Jílovice, Libníkovice, and Výrava to Smiřice.

Bus services in Vysoký Újezd are integrated into the regional transport system IREDO; there are bus stops in the individual parts of the municipality.
