Engelhaus: Hotels and accommodations

History

Engelsburg Castle comprises extensive ruins of a Gothic castle from the second half of the 14th century, situated on a prominent, isolated rocky spur above Andělská Hora. Below the castle ruins, St. Michael the Archangel Church stands in the square at the center of Andělská Hora. The originally Late Gothic parish church was built from 1487 to 1490.

St. Michael the Archangel Church is accessible during religious services. The ruins of Engelsburg Castle, on the other hand, are freely accessible all year round.

Sacred Buildings and Tradition

The Church of the Holy Trinity is a unique triangular early Baroque pilgrimage church. It was built from 1698 to 1712 according to a design by the renowned Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi. Before 1842, it was converted into a cemetery church.

A spring rises below the Church of the Holy Trinity, and its water was believed to be life-giving. The annual cultural events in Andělská Hora include celebrations dedicated to Princess Alvína.

Nature

The administrative area of Andělská Hora lies in the northeastern part of the Slavkovský les at approximately 600 meters above sea level. The Andělská Hora–Kyselka educational trail focuses on nature, geology, and history.
