Schönfeld: Hotels and accommodations
The following sections present technical monuments, historic religious buildings, a cycling route, and landscapes in the Slavkovský les.
Culture and history
Dlouhá stoka is an important technical monument and also a national cultural monument. The 24-kilometre water canal was built in 1536 to transport water and timber in support of mining. The Hornické muzeum Krásno is located on the site of the historic Vilém tin mine. Its complex preserves a processing building, workshops, a headframe, a hoisting building, an engine house, and a gatehouse. From May to October, visitors can ride a mine railway there along a route through a model tunnel.
The present-day Church of St Catherine of Alexandria in Krásno was built in 1858–1859 in the Neo-Romanesque style on the remains of a medieval church that had burned down. Its complex includes a medieval bell tower that is a cultural monument. The Church of St Catherine of Alexandria and the former cemetery were declared cultural monuments in 2025. To visit the church outside of services, contact the town of Krásno, the owner of the property.
Cycling
Cycling route 2135 from Krásno is 38 kilometres long. It has a moderate level of difficulty and is suitable for touring bikes and mountain bikes. It runs from Krásno via Prameny and Kladská to the edge of Český les, where it connects to route 2137.
Along its route, cycling route 2135 approaches Dlouhá stoka and follows the canal for several kilometres. This brings the historic water-management structure and the landscape of the Slavkovský les together on one route.
Nature
Krásenské rašeliniště is the largest raised bog in the Slavkovský les. It lies in the first protection zone; unauthorised access is prohibited. The Slavkovský les features extensive peat bogs, species-rich wet and marsh meadows, unique serpentine flora, heathlands, numerous mineral springs and mofettes, preserved beech forests, and the valleys of the meandering Teplá and Ohře rivers with remarkable rock formations.
Viewpoint
South of Krásno, the Krásenská rozhledna stands on Krásenský vrch, a 25-metre-high stone observation tower. An unusual external spiral staircase leads to its viewing platform. The tower was built during the global economic crisis in the 1930s.
