Industrial development began with Palivový kombinát Vřesová. The first part to be put into operation was a coal-crushing plant opened in 1965. A pressure gasification plant operated by Palivový kombinát Vřesová was commissioned in 1969.

The local history also includes a simple chapel built in Vřesová in the 19th century. The former chapel was demolished in 1959 together with the settlement's original buildings. The historic settlement of Vřesová was located on the road from Chodov to Jindřichovice.
