Falkenau An Der Eger: Hotels and Accommodation

Around 1730, the grounds of Sokolov Château were designed in the style of a French garden and adorned with an abundance of sculptures. The château itself is a two-storey, four-winged building with four towers and a fountain in its enclosed courtyard. Since 1960, it has housed a museum with regional exhibitions on minerals, porcelain, flora and fauna, the Nostitz family, and the history of modern mining.

In addition to the church, the protected complex of the Church of Saint James the Greater includes stairs, an enclosure, statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint James, as well as the associated plots of land. The church is a single-nave, rectangular building with a western tower, presbytery, sacristy, chapel and oratory.

The Capuchin Monastery complex of Saint Anthony of Padua in Sokolov is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic and includes the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. Following its reconstruction, the church has served as a concert and exhibition hall.

Sokolov lies at the confluence of the Ohře and Svatava rivers; the Lobezský potok stream also runs through the town. In the centre, Husovy sady form an important landscape feature. They preserve part of the former château garden and the former pheasantry, with ponds and other bodies of water.

Lake Michal is a natural bathing area created on the site of a former lignite open-pit mine. The Městský okruh cycle path runs through Husovy sady and can be extended to the natural bathing area at Michal.

The Hard lookout tower is a replica of the original lookout tower from 1907 and was built in 2000–2001. It reopened in 2001 and was made accessible to the public. Its top can be reached via 55 steps; from there, the view stretches across Sokolov and the Ore Mountains.
