Nature and History
The Horská naučná stezka Merklín educational trail begins at the railway station and is designed as a circular route. It leads through the northern surroundings of Merklín, with extensive meadows, deep forests and old, sometimes wet paths to the remains of abandoned settlements.
In the immediate vicinity of Merklín are Vlčí hřbet Mountain [Jáchymov], Plešivec Mountain and Popovský kříž Mountain. Perninský vrch Mountain is located in the surroundings of Merklín.

Traditions are maintained in Merklín, including the burning of witches with the raising of a maypole, Children's Day with a fairy-tale forest, and Christmas carol singing beneath the tree.
