Buchau (Bochov) combines early mining history, Baroque sacred art, castle research, and marked cycling routes. Bochov was founded as a mining settlement in the first half of the 14th century; the first written record dates from 1325.
History and Culture
In the middle of the Bochov market square stands a Baroque sandstone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the first half of the 18th century. The interior furnishings of the church date from the Baroque period around 1750.
Hartenštejn Castle is a Late Gothic artillery fortification with battery towers. Hartenstein has an exhibition about the findings on the history of the site gained through recent archaeological research, and it was reopened to the public in 2016 after a ten-year restoration.
