Ebmeth: Hotels and Accommodations
The Czech name Rovná was introduced in 1947, replacing the German name Ebmeth. However, the history of the place dates back to around the mid-14th century, when Rovná was founded by German settlers.
History
The original settlement of Rovná was located west of the present-day settlement and stretched along the road to Kostelní Bříza. The original village of Rovná was destroyed; only the foundations of the houses remain.
In the early 1960s, a new settlement was built in the central and upper parts of the former village of Rovná and was referred to as a “socialist village.” The new Rovná, described as a prefabricated housing estate, became an independent municipality in 1969.
Culture and Mining
The small, architecturally simple Steidl Chapel in Ebmeth was built by the owner of property no. 33 in memory of her brother, who fell in the First World War.
The Jeroným Mine National Cultural Monument is a unique example of mining culture and the mining skills of earlier generations. During the underground tour, visitors must wear a hard hat and keep a borrowed lamp switched on throughout the entire visit.
