Frühbuß (Přebuz): Nature and Landscape
The Přebuzské vřesoviště protected area preserves near-natural habitats that formed after peat extraction and serve as a refuge for rare and endangered plants and animals. Hartelsberg (Čertova hora) is a 987 m-high, cone-shaped landmark of the Přebuz landscape. Immediately along the path to Hartelsberg, the Skalka rock outcrop displays characteristic textures of tin-bearing granites.
The Hornická poznávací trasa Přebuz is a 5.2 km-long route with 13 stations. Hartelsberg offers views of the Krušné hory, the Smrčiny, the Český les, the Slavkovský les, the Tepelská vrchovina and the Doupovské hory.
Mining History
The Přebuzský vodní příkop (Erbgraben) is considered the oldest mining monument in Přebuz. The Šliks constructed it in the mid-16th century. The Alžbětinská dědičná štola (St. Elisabeth hereditary adit) was an important drainage adit from the 16th to the 19th century.
The Panský důl (Herrenzeche) provides insights into rugged open-pit workings, collapsed adits, depressions, disappearing streams and springs left behind by tin mining from the 16th to the 19th century. Tin mining in Přebuz was carried out from 1909 to 1914 under the name Čerstvé štěstí (Frischglück) and from 1931 to 1958 as Ritterův důl (Ritterschacht); it reached a depth of 120 m and left behind rows of subsidence hollows.
The Jitřní štola (Gut-Morgen-Stollen) represents the beginnings of mining in Přebuz in the 16th century and was converted into an explosives store in the 20th century.
Technical Heritage
The headframe of the Hlavní jáma (Hauptschacht) is a technical monument. Beneath the concreted shaft opening of the Hlavní jáma (Hauptschacht) lies a flooded labyrinth of mine workings reaching a depth of 190 m.
Buchar (Bucherich) was a facility for crushing tin ore on the uphill section of the road to the church. Buchar (Bucherich) supplied a nearby ore-processing plant and smelter. The processing plant for tin and arsenic ores operated from 1933 to 1945. The settling pond (Odkaliště hlušiny) contains sandy residues produced during ore washing.
Local History and Paths
The tin mine near Přebuz can be reached from the car park at the crossroads between the church and cemetery via approximately 700 m of paved path; access by car is possible, without an entry ban, to within approximately 250 m. The Church of St. Bartholomew in Přebuz is associated with the year 1781; according to the town history, it was completed in 1787.
