Johannesberg I. Isergebirge: Hotels and Accommodation
Johannesberg I. Isergebirge is characterized by specific buildings, landscape features and seasonal activities. Its facets range from churches in Janov nad Nisou and Loučná to observation towers, rock formations and winter sports in Hrabětice.
Culture and History
In Janov nad Nisou, the Kostel svatého Jana Křtitele church was built from 1800 to 1811 according to plans by the Liberec master builder Würfl. Its interior features Neo-Renaissance murals from 1883 by E. Meininger.
The Kostel svatého Josefa v Loučné church was built in 1914 and 1915 according to plans by the Jablonec architect Robert Hemmrich. Its furnishings include six stained-glass windows with ornamental Neo-Renaissance frames.
The Křížová cesta was built in 1878 on Josef Klamt’s property; the site was consecrated in 1903. During Noc kostelů, the Kostel svatého Jana Křtitele church is opened to the public in June with an accompanying program.
Landscape
The stone Královka observation tower is 23.5 meters high. Its summit is reached by 102 steps. From there, the view extends over the Jizerské hory, the Krkonoše Mountains, Český ráj, the Ještědský hřbet and Jablonec nad Nisou.
Trniště is a lookout rock with a viewing platform equipped with a railing. Skalní hřib is a granite rock formation above Loučná, to the left of the road to Jindřichov.
Sports and Activities
Janov nad Nisou is suitable as a starting point for hikes in the Jizerské hory mountains. Hrabětice in Janov nad Nisou is an access point to the Jizerská magistrála and has a parking lot for 110 vehicles. From Janov nad Nisou, it is possible to join the cross-country ski trail of the Jizerská magistrála in Hrabětice.
For alpine skiing, the Severák ski area is available in Hrabětice. A special feature of the bobsleigh track in Janov nad Nisou is a carousel in which the bobsleigh rotates 450 degrees. The bobsleighs are equipped with rubber wheels, are safe and easy to operate, so even small children can use them.
Events
At the Janovských 11 a 19 km event, participants can choose between an 11-kilometer running route and a 19-kilometer walking march. It takes place on the last Saturday in October each year.
The Janovský jarmark takes place every year in June and combines traditional food with handicraft goods.
