Dubnice Pod Ralskem: Hotels and accommodations

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Dubnice Pod Ralskem is a Marian pilgrimage site. The main altar features a Late Gothic wooden sculpture of the Madonna from the 15th century.

Culture and history

The church was built between 1699 and 1702; it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1965. Its grounds include the cemetery, the surrounding wall with gates, the mortuary, the former fire station and a stone cross. The churchyard contains a chapel and 13 Stations of the Cross. Next to the cemetery entrance stands a group of statues depicting Saint John of Nepomuk, an independently protected monument.

In the lower part of Dubnice is the Niesigova Chapel, a stone chapel. A parish inventory from 1895 describes it as the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows and gives 1738 as the year of its construction. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows is also made of stone; it is mentioned in the 1895 parish inventory, was somewhat damaged and was renovated in 1792. The stone cross by the church in Dubnice dates from 1795. It was restored and re-erected next to the memorial to the fallen below the church.

History

After the First World War, Dubnice developed a tourist focus in connection with the nearby resort of Hamr na Jezeře. Summer visitors made use of the opportunities for milk cures and the services offered by the resort.

Cycling

The official CV12 Hamr na Jezeře – northern loop cycling route leads from Žibřidice to Dubnice. From Dubnice, the return journey to Hamr na Jezeře can be shortened.

Nature

The Stříbrník nature monument is a basalt hill with columnar jointing of the rock and lies approximately 2.5 km east of Dubnice.
