Ralsko: Hotels and accommodations
In the Ralsko Nature Reserve, the 696 m-high Ralsko peak dominates the landscape. Rocks, scree areas, and scree forests are just as much a part of this area as predominantly beech forests with a lush herb layer.
Nature
The Vranovské skály Natural Monument, designated in 1993, covers 17.92 ha. The rock city, located on a slope, consists of calcareous sandstone; its most significant rock is Juliina vyhlídka. The protected Děvín and Ostrý area covers 33.1 ha. This natural monument includes tunnels where several species of bats overwinter.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint Gall in Kuřívody is a single-nave Baroque building from 1733–1734, created by rebuilding an older Gothic church. In 2011, two layers of medieval wall paintings were identified there. The older layer of wall paintings depicts a sky with stars and constellations using simple reddish-brown lines.
Stohánek preserves the remains of a castle built on an isolated rock and is accessible via a steep staircase. The sandstone sculpture “Forgotten Home” in Kuřívody commemorates the vanished villages in Ralsko. The Ralsko Information Centre is located in a historically significant building of the former vicarage on the grounds of a church.
