Stráz Pod Ralskem: Hotels and Accommodation

At the northern edge of Stráž pod Ralskem stands Vartenberk Castle, built in the 13th century by the Markvartici family. The town’s historic setting also includes the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, built in 1722, and the Boží hrob on Zámecký vrch.

Culture and History

The first written record of the Church of Saint Sigismund dates from 1363. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1772 and 1779. The plague column is a prominent feature of Stráž pod Ralskem’s elongated market square; it was erected in 1682 and expanded in 1726 with a statue of the Virgin Mary and the four saints John of Nepomuk, Florian, Sebastian and Procopius. The city museum building was constructed as a German school in 1912.

The Hornická expozice presents the history of uranium ore mining in the Česká Lípa area, particularly around Stráž pod Ralskem. Its outdoor area displays mining and railway technology.

Water and Activities

The Vehicle Hall in Stráž pod Ralskem is a covered park for BMX, skateboarding, inline skating and scootering. There is a water-ski lift on the Horka Reservoir, 830 m long. Stráž pod Ralskem also has the Přetejk boat rental service.

BIKE SPORT in Stráž pod Ralskem offers bicycle and scooter rental as well as bicycle servicing. Cycle Route 15 along the Ploučnice begins at the reservoir in Stráž pod Ralskem and runs from the source of the Ploučnice at the foot of Ještěd to the river’s confluence with the Elbe near Děčín.
