Stvolínky: Hotels and Accommodation

Stvolínky combines a multifaceted history with marked trails, a viewpoint above Koňský rybník and distinctive religious buildings. Stvolínky Chateau, the Church of All Saints and the landscape around Ronov provide the village with diverse historical and natural points of reference.

History and Buildings

The oldest historically documented written mention of Stvolínky dates from 1197. A Gothic fortress was built on the site of the former Stvolínky noble manor. Stvolínky Chateau was remodelled in the Renaissance style between 1520 and 1538. The Renaissance building in Stvolínky, which was severely damaged during the Thirty Years' War, was subsequently converted into an early Baroque chateau between 1655 and 1663.

The Church of All Saints also dates back a long way: the church is mentioned in the 14th century and is considered one of the oldest churches in Bohemia. Its basement contains a crypt holding the remains of some former owners of the estate. During the ongoing restoration work, Stvolínky Chateau was accessible for various cultural events.

Water and Rock Landscape

Koňský rybník is a 9-hectare through-flow pond used for fishing. Near Stvolínky lies Smrtka, a viewpoint on a sandstone rock formation above Koňský rybník. The name Smrtka is associated with an old spring custom in which an effigy of Death was thrown into the water.

Ronov features remnants of a preserved scree forest and extensive stone fields. In places, these are almost devoid of vegetation on the slopes and summit.

Hiking and Views

A red-marked hiking trail runs about 150 metres from Stvolínky Chateau and passes the Church of All Saints. A branch from the red-marked trail between Stvolínky and Holany leads to the Smrtka viewpoint. Ronov can also be reached on foot from Stvolínky.

Transport and Accessibility

Stvolínky railway station is integrated into the public transport system. It is located on line 087 between Litoměřice horní nádraží and Česká Lípa. The Stvolínky station building is wheelchair accessible.
