Burany: Hotels and Accommodation

Janatův mlýn in Buřany is an exceptionally well-preserved example of timber folk architecture and one of the national cultural monuments in the Liberec Region. The complex is located in a secluded valley of the Františkovský potok between the settlements of Františkov and Buřany in the Krkonoš Highlands.

Culture and Trails

The KRNAP route “Journey into Crafts” leads from the Stráž viewpoint via Janatův Mlýn Buřany to the Stromkovická chapel. Access to Janatův Mlýn initially follows marked cycle route No. 4174 and then continues along paths through meadows and forest.

Janatův mlýn preserves complete mill technology, including French millstones dating from 1767 and a fully functional bread oven.

Events and Guided Tours

Events held throughout the year during which Janatův mlýn is open to the public usually include Dřevosochání and Kovosochání na Háskově, Adventní pečení perníčků, and Dny lidové architektury. Janatův mlýn is usually accessible during Františkovské dřevosochání; guided tours can also be arranged directly with the owner for another date.

Trails and Horseback Rides

A green-marked trail leads from Buřany in a gentle ascent to Mount Hejlov. The loop can be continued along the green and yellow trails towards Františkov before returning to Buřany via the road. At the Kašparka riding station in Buřany, accompanied rides are available for one to three riders.

Surroundings

The mountains Čertova hora, Hvězda, and Šeřín, as well as the Wodospad Kamieńczyka waterfall, are located in the vicinity of Buřany.

The wider regional surroundings of Buřany include Zamek Chojnik Castle, the ruins of Spalona Strażnica, and the churches of Lázně and Valdštejn.
