Dvorce U Bruntálu: Hotels and Accommodation

On the northeastern edge of Dvorce, the Church of St Giles stands on a hill. The striking building contains a Romanesque core and was rebuilt in the mid-18th century according to a design by Andrea Altomonte.

History

The first written mention of Dvorce dates from 1339. In 1363, Dvorce received its first town charter from Vojtěch ze Šternberka. The Lords of Šternberk founded the settlement on an old trade route from Olomouc to Silesia. The former narrow-gauge railway between Dvorce and Moravský Beroun is also part of the town's history: it opened in 1908 and was closed in 1934.

Nature

Nearby Roudno is home to Velký Roudný, a former volcano with a 20-metre-high observation tower. Marked cycling routes can be used around Dvorce.

Culture

St Catherine's Chapel is a single-nave cemetery chapel built by Lutherans around the middle of the 16th century. Since 1996, it has been a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The Neptune Fountain with a statue of Neptune is a defining feature of the square in Dvorce. The temporarily closed Muzeum Dvorce was established on 5 September 1999 in a two-storey Empire-style parsonage dating from the mid-19th century. Part of its exhibition is dedicated to the painter Ferdinand Krumholz (1810–1878), who came from Dvorce; the museum also contains objects documenting the history of the municipality.

Regional bus route 910 runs via Bruntál, Roudno, Dvorce and Moravský Beroun.
