Lomnice: Hotels and Accommodation

Lomnice is situated in the Nízký Jeseník below Slunečná Mountain. Cross-country ski route A leads into a wooded area at Kamenec and then along a ridge at the edge of the forest to Hospůdka Prima. The loop is approximately 11 km long and has an elevation gain of 90 m.

Winter and Exercise

Cross-country ski route B starts at Penzion Lomnický šenk, leads across the meadows around Kamec into the forest, and then along a ridge to Nová Pláň. It is approximately 19 km long and has an elevation gain of 100 m.

Activities

In the “Cycling Playground Park”, the route is intended for bicycles – including BMX and mountain bikes – as well as balance bikes. After 400 metres, at a junction on the right in the forest, there is a newly built rest area with seating for relaxing beside a pond.

The “Playful Forest” in Tylov is a functional modern recreational zone with educational elements. The zone is intended especially for children’s environmental education.

Culture and History

The Church of St George in Lomnice is a single-nave masonry building dating from the mid-14th century that underwent extensive alterations between 1603 and 1622. The church is documented as having its first written mention of the parish in 1351; its surviving core was built in 1603. Church services are held regularly.

Lomnice and Tylov are mentioned in a papal document from 1351; older records date back to around 1316. Lomnice has old houses of historical and architectural importance in the German lowland style that were relocated to the mountains. The “Life in the Village” Museum in Lomnice focuses on small agricultural machines and tools. The collection was later expanded to include tools and products made by various craftspeople who lived and worked in the village.

There is a monument in the cemetery in Lomnice commemorating the victims of the prisoner-of-war camp from 1940–1945. Near the Church of St George above Lomnice lies a prisoner-of-war cemetery, considered one of the largest in Moravia, with a dignified monument.

Nature and Landscape

The Bystřice Valley Nature Park extends in the Rýmařovsko area into the cadastral territory of Lomnice. The relevant part of the Bystřice Valley Nature Park in the Rýmařovsko area is considered, apart from the surroundings of Dětřichov nad Bystřicí, to be very flat, wooded terrain northwest of the railway line in the direction of Ryžoviště. The Lomnická lípa is registered as a solitary tree in the cadastral territory of Lomnice u Rýmařova.
