Slezské Rudoltice: Hotels and Accommodation

Slezské Rudoltice Castle was built by the Fulštejnové between 1548 and 1565 as a small Renaissance château at the lower end of the village, on the site of a medieval fortress. Following its Baroque reconstruction, it became one of the cultural centers of Silesia. The castle grounds of Slezské Rudoltice include a French garden and a natural-style English park with a castle pond. The castle is open to the public and offers guided tours lasting approximately 45 minutes.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Catherine in Slezské Rudoltice has been listed as a protected cultural monument since February 18, 2008; its ÚSKP register number is 102803. The three-nave Neo-Romanesque building was constructed between 1871 and 1875 based on a design by G. Meretta, a leading architect of the Olomouc archdiocese. The church contains the remains and tombstones of members of the Hodic family, transferred from the crypt of the former church building.

Landscape and Trails

Slezské Rudoltice lies near the Polish border on the edge of the Zlatohorská vrchovina in the Osoblažsko foothills. The landscape is characterized by plateaus and smaller areas of low, sparse woodland.

The Osoblažská narrow-gauge railway is one of the tourist attractions in Slezské Rudoltice. It has a track gauge of 760 mm, a route length of 20.2 km, and has been in operation since 1898. The map project of the Osoblažsko microregion includes the designated route “Route C – Slezské Rudoltice.” It also includes cycling and hiking routes through the member municipalities and provides detailed route descriptions and GPS coordinates.
