Úvalno: Hotels and accommodations
The Hans Kudlich observation tower on Strážiště near Úvalno was built as a memorial to Hans Kudlich based on the design by architect Oskar von Felgel. The 21.5-metre-high tower was opened on 21 September 1913.
Culture
The former rectory was converted into a retro museum. The museum displays living spaces with a kitchen, a bathroom, a children's room with toys from the 1950s, and a formal living room.
The Church of St. Nicholas in Úvalno is a brick, longitudinally rectangular, single-nave Gothic church from the second half of the 14th century that was remodelled in the Baroque style after 1762. The birthplace of Hans Kudlich in Úvalno is a memorial to a significant figure. Construction components and parts of the furnishings of a mill have been preserved in the Rychta.
Water
Plovárna Na Výsluní is a natural swimming biotope on the grounds of the former outdoor swimming pool below the Hans Kudlich observation tower in Úvalno. It includes a swimming area, a non-swimmer area and a paddling pool; the facility also has a water slide. In addition, Plovárna Na Výsluní has sanitary facilities for visitors, outdoor showers and changing rooms.
Nature
Úvalenská louka consists of wet meadows with a marshy or boggy character. The Opava in Úvalno is a preserved natural watercourse with riparian vegetation and significance for ornithology and zoology extending beyond the region.
Orientation
Group visits to the Hans Kudlich observation tower can be arranged outside opening hours at least one day in advance. At the municipal railway station in Úvalno stands a carriage called Hytlák; it has a stove, a small kitchen and a basic sanitary area.
The renovated former railway station building in Úvalno dates from 1875 and is one of the few half-timbered buildings in the region. It operates as an information centre with sanitary facilities and a café.
