Tvrdkov: Hotels and accommodations

Tvrdkov is located in the northwestern part of the Sovinecko Nature Park. The Tvrdkovský potok stream flows through the village – a geographical setting connected with natural and cultural features in the village and its surroundings.

Nature

At Rešovské vodopády, the Huntava has carved a deep, gorge-like valley with a depth of 70–120 m, rocky gorges, waterfalls and rapids. The rocky gorge there is approximately 200 m long and 6–10 m wide; the highest waterfall is 10 m high. The Rešovské vodopády National Nature Monument encompasses the area around the confluence of the Tvrdkovský potok and the Huntava.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Anthony of Padua in Tvrdkov is a single-nave late Baroque rural church built in 1768–1776 and protected as a cultural monument. Its construction was financed by local residents, especially the local magistrate Augustin Linke. Before the church was built, the site was occupied only by a wooden bell tower, a mortuary and a cemetery. A sacristy was added to the church in 1814. During the First World War (1914–1918), the bells of Tvrdkov were removed and melted down for war production, together with chandeliers and organ pipes.

Tvrdkov is also home to a sandstone statue of the Immaculata, created in 1848 and standing on a tiered pedestal with reliefs of saints. In the village of Ruda, a Baroque Stations of the Cross with 14 stations leads from the local church to Křížový vrch. Hrad Brníčko is a castle in the vicinity of Tvrdkov, while Nový Hrad is a castle ruin in the wider regional area.

Landscape

The mountains of Soukenná, Pec and Kamenná are located around Tvrdkov. Břidličná hora, also a mountain, lies in the wider regional area.

Trails

A red-marked hiking trail leads north from Tvrdkov to Špičák. This red-marked hiking trail continues to the ruins of Rabštejn Castle. A cycle route also runs through Tvrdkov, heading northeast via Horní Město and Stará Ves to the Skřítek excursion destination.
