Moravskoslezský Kočov: Hotels and Accommodation

Moravskoslezský Kočov was founded around 1300. Religious buildings have been preserved in the village; Uhlířský vrch is located nearby. Bus route 910 operates on the Bruntál–Roudno–Dvorce–Moravský Beroun route and serves several stops in Moravskoslezský Kočov.

History

A document from 1377 mentions Moravskoslezský Kočov as a large village with a hereditary magistrate’s office. Around 1380, a castle rampart was built here. Slezský Kočov probably originated north of the existing village in 1544.

The parish Church of St. Michael has been preserved with an older core and a late Renaissance tower. It was restored in 1658 and in 1793–1795, and remodeled in the Empire style in 1823. The Chapel of St. Elizabeth was renovated and consecrated in 2008. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was one of four local chapels consecrated on September 21, 2002.

Nature

Uhlířský vrch is located near Moravskoslezský Kočov. It is a protected natural monument and the remnant of a stratovolcano that has been heavily smoothed by denudation processes. The quarry walls of Uhlířský vrch are about 30 m high and contain volcanic tuffs across nearly their entire preserved thickness.

Events

The New Year’s ascent of Uhlířský vrch is one of the regular events associated with Moravskoslezský Kočov. The Kočovský kotlík competition took place in Moravskoslezský Kočov from 2015 to 2021; official rules were published for 2026.
