Culture and History

The Church of St Joseph in Staré Město was built between 1902 and 1903 in a purely Romanesque style and completed in 1904. It is dedicated to Saint Joseph. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Staré Město stands on the road from Staré Město to Baška; local farmers built it in 1878 as a thanksgiving for the harvest.

Historic Jamnice was a settlement with a fortification on the trade route from Moravia to Těšínsko.

Getting Your Bearings

The Na Skotni Chapel is located on the road from Staré Město to Skalice. It is well maintained but carefully locked; through the entirely wooden door, it is hardly possible to see inside.

Getting There

The road connection from Frýdek-Místek then continues via Road II/477 in the direction of Baška. Travel by train is possible as far as Frýdek-Místek railway station; from there, continue on foot, by bus or by taxi.
