Landscape and Marked Trails

The educational trail in the Hrádek floodplain forest of Girov features an elevated, covered birdwatching platform for observing the landscape and wildlife, especially birds. The educational trail in the Girov floodplain forest also has three information panels, two interactive learning stations, and five forest benches.

The Olše Canyon in Hrádek is approximately 1 km long and 10 m deep. It serves as a starting point for water tours on the Olše. The marked trail network in Hrádek is used by hikers, cyclists, and, in winter, cross-country skiers.

History and Culture

Only a damaged central core and a disturbed neck ditch remain from the medieval fortification of Zómczysko. The small castle was intended to monitor a trade route from Hungary through the Jablunkov Pass to Silesia.

A sandstone block at the summit of Filipka marks the tripoint, or three-municipality junction, of Hrádek, Nýdek, and Návsí. It was erected there in 1997 at the actual border point.

The Museum and Information Centre of Hrádek is located in a reconstructed, century-old former fire station. It displays a wide variety of everyday objects used by previous generations in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The museum is located at Hrádek 115 next to the Leisure Activities Centre; visits should preferably be arranged in advance.

The “hrádecký rynik” was a three-legged metal cauldron once used in the fields to heat food.

Events

The traditional “Běh Hrádkem” race reached its 30th edition in 2026. The GULÁŠFEST goulash festival takes place in Belko; its fifth edition was announced for 2026.
