Bohumín: Hotels and Accommodation

At the Hraniční meandry Odry, Bohumín features a clearly defined natural area: The protected natural monument covers 131.6 hectares and includes a 7.5-kilometre section of the Oder with five large river bends. The Hraniční meandry Odry can be explored on foot, by bicycle or by boat.

Culture

The Červená stezka can be explored by bicycle or on foot. Twelve neo-Gothic red-brick buildings in Bohumín are part of this route. In Starý Bohumín stands the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, which dates from the 15th century and became a place of pilgrimage again after decades. The Pustyňa Chapel there is a small Baroque building dating from the 18th century.

The permanent exhibition “Bohumín - pohledy do minulosti města” is housed in the basement of the renovated Art Nouveau building Pod Zeleným dubem in Starý Bohumín. The museum also displays the Starý Bohumín treasure, consisting of 54 coins from the years 1660 to 1860. Other exhibits include a mammoth molar, a vertebra and a boundary stone from the First Republic period, which were found in the meanders of the Oder.

Recreation

Aquacentrum Bohumín offers a 25-metre swimming pool, a relaxation pool, massage jets, water spouts, a waterfall, an outdoor pool, a 48-metre-long water slide, a children's paddling pool and other attractions. The sauna world at Aquacentrum Bohumín includes Finnish saunas, a steam sauna, experience showers and a Kneipp path.

History

The MO-S5 Na Trati infantry bunker offers regular guided tours on weekends and public holidays. Outside regular opening hours, visits are possible by telephone appointment. In 2004, the infantry bunker was declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

The crypt of the Counts Henckel von Donnersmarck is a two-storey building with a crypt in the lower storey and a sacred space in the upper storey. In 1752, it was remodelled into its present form.
