Petrovice U Karviné: Hotels and Accommodation
The Dolnà Marklovice natural monument extends across the cadastral areas of Dolnà Marklovice and Petrovice u Karviné over an area of 37.0699 hectares. Its conservation objective is the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina). The clayey meanders of the river also provide nesting opportunities for the highly endangered kingfisher.
Culture and History
The Church of the Ascension of the Lord, dating from 1739, stands in Dolnà Marklovice. It contains floral wall paintings that restorers uncovered at the end of the 20th century. In Petrovice, the stone Calvary Cross Kamenný křÞ Kalvárie dates from 1858, and the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from the late 18th century. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Závada dates from the mid-19th century. In Dolnà Marklovice, the monument to Saint Wenceslas was unveiled on 28 October 1930.
Connections
Petrovice u Karviné railway station is the starting point of Railway Corridor II in the direction of Břeclav. The double viaduct in Petrovice was built more than a century ago to allow passage beneath the railway tracks.
In cycling, several places are connected by the Železné cyklotrasy festival, an annual public cycling event linking Godów, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Karviná, Petrovice u Karviné and Zebrzydowice. The section of the Iron Cycling Trail in Petrovice u Karviné runs between Závada and Olšiny.
