Hodslavice: Hotels and accommodations

In the center of Hodslavice stands the single-nave, timber-framed wooden Church of St. Andrew. It was built in the early 15th century, around the early 1480s, and is considered one of the oldest surviving wooden churches in the Czech Republic.

Culture and history

The Church of the Divine Heart of the Lord in Hodslavice has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since August 18, 1999. The birthplace of František Palacký was built by his father Jiří Palacký in 1796 and has been a national cultural monument since 1978.

Fojtova stodola is a more than two-hundred-year-old farm building made of hewn beams and an immovable cultural monument. As part of the cultural event Sochy u lesa, it regularly hosts works by local and visiting artists and craftspeople.

The Hodslavice windmill was built in 1864. It stands on a hill west of Hodslavice and is an immovable cultural monument in private ownership.

Nature

Hodslavice lies at the foot of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids and near the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. The butterfly garden is open year-round free of charge and is designed as a floral oasis with nectar-producing plants.

Near Hodslavice, in the direction of Hostašovice and Valašské Meziříčí, the Kacabaja Reservoir is frequently used for swimming and recreation in summer.

Trails and events

The František Palacký educational trail has 21 to 22 stations with information panels about nature, history, geology, and the Podbeskydí landscape.

The Palackého stezka tourist hike takes place every year on the penultimate Saturday in May. It starts at the monument to František Palacký in Hodslavice.

Location and local bread

Hodslavice lies on the main road between Nový Jičín and Valašské Meziříčí. Visitors can sample homemade bread from Hodslavice at the local bakeries.
