Bukovany: Hotels and accommodation

Bukovany lies at the foot of the last spur of the Nízký Jeseník. The village combines this location with original Hanakian farmhouses, as well as a church, a chapel, a pilgrimage-themed educational trail and a cycling route.

Culture and townscape

Several original Hanakian farmhouses have been preserved in the centre of Bukovany. The Church of St Anthony of Padua was built in Bukovany in 1992.

Above Bukovany stands the Baroque Chapel of St Donatus on an old road to the pilgrimage church on Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc. The chapel was built in 1774, is an immovable cultural monument and is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

The T. G. Masaryk Monument is among the cultural monuments of local importance in Bukovany. The original urban structure of the village square is considered to be of urban-planning value in Bukovany.

History and pilgrimage routes

Bukovany is first mentioned in 1131; at that time, Bishop Jindřich Zdík consecrated a new church dedicated to St Wenceslas.

Bukovany is the second stop on the pilgrimage-themed educational trail from Svatý Kopeček to Svatý Hostýn. The pilgrimage route is just under 50 km long and has 19 information panels, including one in Bukovany.

Recreation and activities

Bukovany is part of the RC4 Olomoucko – východ recreational area. From 9 August to 10 October 2026, a temporary pump track was installed in the car park near Koliba; it was intended for inline skates, roller skates, skateboards, BMX bikes and scooters.

The “Svatý Kopeček – Bazilika a ZOO” cycling route runs through Bukovany and is classified as moderately difficult.

Bukovany is connected to public transport by municipal bus services.
