Dlouhá Loučka combines a distinctive castle history, small museums and landscape areas on the edge of the Sovinecko Nature Park. Between the church complex, castle park and protected areas are numerous tangible traces that make the place historically and geographically comprehensible.
Culture and History
The Church of St. Bartholomew has a core dating from the 15th century, was later modified and preserves sepulchral sculptures from the 19th century. It also includes a stone cross that was moved there from its former location at the bridge over the Oslava River.
Dlouhá Loučka Château was built as a Baroque château in 1708–1709 and served as the summer residence of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. During the Napoleonic Wars, it was a hospital with 600 beds. On the slope below Křivá in Dlouhá Loučka, a monument also commemorates the victims of these wars.
A quartz millstone now lies in front of a local shop in Dlouhá Loučka. It was originally located in the castle park; experts suspect that it was used to grind silver ore before smelting. The site also includes a Renaissance farm building belonging to a fortress, with a largely preserved stable interior.
Museums and Collections
The Kingdom of Historical Prams is located at Plinkout 41, Dlouhá Loučka 783 86. The collection includes historic prams and dolls' prams dating from 1860 to 1989. The facility is open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 17:00; visits on other days are possible by prior telephone arrangement.
The museum in Dlouhá Loučka is located in the building of the second Loučský Château, which now houses the municipal office. It displays rescued wall paintings left on the walls of the local dilapidated château by captured French officers during the Second World War. It also features paintings made by French officers in Dlouhá Loučka, including a unique painted plan of the entire château.
Landscape and Nature
Dlouhá Loučka Castle Park is a landscape park enclosed by a perimeter wall at the eastern end of the village. The 23rd Hike through the Sovinecko Nature Park started and ended there on 9 May 2026.
The four cadastral areas of the municipality of Dlouhá Loučka – Dolní Dlouhá Loučka, Horní Dlouhá Loučka, Křivá and Plinkout – partly extend into the Sovinecko Nature Park. Parts of the cadastral areas of Horní Dlouhá Loučka and Křivá also extend into the Sovinec European Protected Area. Habitats in the Dlouhá Loučka area include beech and beech-fir forests, riparian vegetation, rocks, standing waters and streams of the trout zone.
