In the center of Ivaň, the original historic settlement structure is considered valuable; it shapes the municipality’s basic appearance.

Landscape

Ivaň is situated in the flat terrain of the Hornomoravský úval at an average elevation of 172 meters, in an intensively cultivated, flat Haná landscape.

Culture and History

The first written mention of Ivaň dates from 1359. In the center stands the “Kaple sv. Floriána” chapel from 1898; in front of the chapel there is a stone cross from 1883. In the eastern part of Ivaň, opposite the bus stop, there is a statue of the Virgin Mary from 1889.

On the northeastern edge of Ivaň stands the “Socha sv. Jana z Nepomuku” statue, which was restored in 1946 and is located along the access road from Tovačov. Northwest of Ivaň, below the water tower, there is the wayside shrine “Boží muka”, a protected cultural monument.

Another stone cross from 1863 stands in the northern part of Ivaň’s cadastral territory on the “Pod hrubčickou silnicí” field path. At the eastern edge of the cadastral territory stands the Pietà group “Sousoší Piety” beside a field path in a small grove.

Archaeological finds from the present-day area of Ivaň include urns of various shapes, bowls, spindle whorls, a bronze bracelet, and a bronze fibula.

The orange sports field serves for public recreation and sporting activities, especially for children and young people.
