Janoušov: Hotels and accommodations

Janoušov lies on the southern edge of the Hrubý les; in the northern part of its municipal area, elevations of over 700 m are reached. Landscape, trails, and cultural and historical heritage are closely intertwined here.

Landscape and trails

The Janoušov Circuit is an approximately 9.5 km long, blue-marked hiking route with several information boards and signposts. At its highest point, it reaches 845 m and offers views of the Jeseníky Mountains. Most of the route runs along forest paths; shorter sections lead along paved and partly field roads. The route is considered suitable for families with children.

A green-marked hiking trail also passes through Janoušov. Near the center, a tourist shelter was built for passing hikers and day-trippers.

Townscape and history

Janoušov can be reached via a turnoff to Bušín from the Šumperk–Červená Voda road. Several traditional timbered houses have been preserved in the village. Historical cottage industries included the production of brushes and rakes, weaving baskets from willow branches, making birch brooms, and sewing on thread buttons.

A wooden statue in Janoušov depicts the presumed founder or locator of the settlement. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was declared a cultural monument by a decision dated 15 February 2012.

Sacred heritage

Janoušov is home to a chapel of Saint Anne dating from 1882. The wooden chapel was built in 2015–2016 and blessed on 24 July by the Bishop of Olomouc, Mons. Josef Hrdlička. Inside is a large wooden crucifix with the corpus of the crucified Christ. A small bell tower topped with a cross sits on its roof.

The cross with Our Lady of Sorrows dates from the first half of the 19th century and combines Classicist forms with enduring Baroque design elements.

Memorial sites

The World Wars memorial consists of a polished granite stele with plaques bearing the names of those killed and missing in the First and Second World Wars. It was unveiled in 1921 and stands on a slope near the municipal office.
