Komárov: Hotels and Accommodation

Komárov is best explored via its paths, Komárovský kopec and the historic sites of the village. A cross from 1833 stands on Komárovský kopec; from there, views open up over Haná, Nízký Jeseník and Zábřežská vrchovina.

Nature and Paths

Komárovský kopec has a covered pavilion with benches and a table for resting during walks and excursions. There is also an information board and a summit book nearby.

The Komárovská stezka pro děti is an easy trail aimed primarily at families with children. Its theme changes throughout the year according to the seasons. The trail leads from the retirement home through a new cherry avenue to a fire pit with seating beneath a small copse, continues along a biocorridor and ends at the chapel. Five stations with interchangeable panels encourage children to learn about nature, reflect and engage in light exercise.

The cycling route Do hlubin věků is also one of the paths. It is 30 km long and initially combines a flat section with a steep climb and a long, steep descent. The route is suitable for experienced cyclists and runs along paved roads as well as unpaved forest paths. It leads from Mladějovice via Komárov to Řídeč.

From Mladějovice railway station, yellow- and blue-marked hiking trails run together towards Komárov and Řídeč.

History and Village Character

Komárov was established during one of the final settlement phases in the Šternberk region at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The first explicit written mention of the village dates from 1412/1413.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was built at the end of the 19th century along the path used by the inhabitants of Komárov to reach the church in Mladějovice. After a long period of disuse, it was reconsecrated in 2005. On the village square, the historic stone cross from 1823, together with the chapel and a linden tree, forms the historic centre.

Events and Public Places

The Komárovský výšlap is a recurring spring hiking event; the second edition took place in 2025 and the third in 2026. The Komárovský výšlap 2026 also included a shorter group walk through the village surroundings.

The Komárovské hody are a traditional local festival. The 2025 edition was the 20th edition.

A children's playground is open to the public within the grounds of Domov seniorů Komárov.

A railway station on the line to Šumperk and Olomouc is located approximately 500 metres away between Komárov and Mladějovice.
