Střítež nad Ludinou: Hotels and accommodations

A prominent natural attraction of Střítež nad Ludinou is the “Střítežské vyhlídky” trail: it leads to the sources of the Ludina River and is suitable for hiking and cycling. In clear weather, the route offers panoramic views of the Beskids, including Radhošť, Velký Javorník and Lysá hora, as well as the ridge of the Hostýn Hills and the Oder Hills.

Trails and landscape

Veselský kopec is easily accessible on foot and by bicycle. Most of the route to Veselský kopec is not marked as a tourist trail.

Architectural heritage

The Church of St. Matthew was built and consecrated in 1822. It was originally built in the Empire style and later modified in the Neo-Romanesque style. A small death bell bearing the year 1766 has survived from the former cemetery church.

Four “Božítělové” chapels on the village square date from 1904 and face the four cardinal directions. The Chapel of St. Barbara dates from 1887. The Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help dates from 1816 and was last modified in 1850.

Historical traces

The “Humplíkův, Zelcův mlýn” water mill in Střítež nad Ludinou is documented in the 1569 land register of the Hranice estate. It preserves remnants of its water and milling technology, including a reconstructed water wheel and part of an oak drive shaft.

The “Malé muzeum minerálů” in Střítež nad Ludinou displays minerals from the Moravian Gate, as well as from the Czech Republic and other parts of the world. It also features fossils of former animals and plants that are up to 400 million years old.

Local customs

The Střítežské hody festival takes place in September on the feast day of Saint Matthew, the patron saint of the church. “Vodění medvěda” is a local Shrovetide custom.
