Dědová: Hotels and accommodation

Dědová is a typical foothill municipality situated at an elevation of 658 m on the gently sloping side of a valley. Panoramic views of the landscapes of Skutečsko, Novohradsko and Poličsko open up from here.

Landscape and nature

The entire planning area of Dědová lies within the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The Bahna Nature Monument protects transitional bogs, nutrient-poor moss swamps, tall-herb meadows, wet cabbage thistle meadows and meadowsweet stands, purple moor-grass meadows, and Nardus grasslands with protected and endangered plant and animal species. The locality of Bahna and the protected natural area “Bahna” are used for recreation.

The mountains of Devět Skal, Žákova hora and Jarošov are located in the vicinity of Dědová. The hill of Dědovský kopec [Dědová] lies in the immediate surroundings of Dědová. The Raná stream rises at the western edge of Dědová, while the Dědový potok stream is located in the eastern part of Dědová.

Trails and routes

A red-marked hiking trail passes through Dědová and continues to Krouna, Otradov and Česká Rybná. In the opposite direction, the red-marked hiking trail leads to Kameničky, Chlumětín and Svratka. In the opposite direction, a marked hiking trail also leads via Filipov to Kameničky.

The registered cycling route 4122 runs through the territory of Dědová along the Kameničky–Dědová–Vojtěchov section. The “Inspiration from Vysočina Painters” route connects Hlinsko, Rataje, Dědová, Kameničky, Lány and Hamry before returning to Hlinsko.

History and architectural heritage

The first written mention of Dědová dates back to 1392. A public area with log houses representing folk architecture is located by the Dědová municipal office. House No. 12 in Dědová is an important example of folk architecture and documents the traditional settlement of Vysočina, with preserved elements of traditional vernacular construction.

In the 19th century, Dědová was known for the production of wooden toys. The monument to the inhabitants of Dědová commemorating the victims of the First World War is registered under identification number CZE5302-6257 in the Central Register of War Graves.
