Prachovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Above Prachovice, the Železné hory Geopark created the “Budka” viewing installation. Through its cut-out circles, visitors can see interesting objects in the surrounding landscape. The “Budka” is also linked to a short excursion tip that picks up on the long goods cableway that once ran from Prachovice.

Nature and Landscape

The Seč Reservoir, built on the Chrudimka River, is located near Prachovice. The nearby area also includes Bučina and Krkanka, which are considered mountains, as well as “(U Kalicha) [Kostelec u H.Městce]” and “(Na Rašavech) [Bojanov-Hrbokov]”, which are considered hills.

The “Kolem prachovického lomu” educational trail is a circular route that can be started either in Prachovice or in Vápenný Podol. It has been extended to a length of 7.5 kilometres. At the main viewpoint at the entrance to the Prachovice quarry, there is a view of several extraction levels and the use of heavy machinery. It is also intended that blasting operations can be observed from the viewpoint at a safe distance, provided that they are announced in advance by a siren.

Culture and History

The wider regional surroundings of Prachovice include Zámek Kačina, a chateau, and Svatý Jiří, a church.

Around 1888, the municipality of Prachovice and its representatives decided to build a municipal chapel for religious services at their own expense. The “Kaple Nanebevzetí Panny Marie” chapel in Prachovice was solemnly consecrated on 8 September 1891.
