Parizov: Hotels and accommodations

At the northwestern edge of Pařížov stands the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on a rocky outcrop above the river. It is the oldest building in the village and is Romanesque; its surviving wooden structural elements have been dendrochronologically dated to the beginning of the 12th century. Directly below the church, on the slope above the river, are old stone walls.

Culture and History

The old road from Pařížov toward Moravany is associated with the route of the original Libická (Liběcká) Trail. The Pařížov Dam is also part of the village’s history: it was built on the Doubrava River between 1909 and 1913. It was preceded by the major flood events and inundations of 1885, 1888, 1897, and 1908.

Water, Nature, and Landscape

The Pařížov Reservoir is part of the Doubrava Nature Park and is used for recreation and fishing. Upstream from the Pařížov Reservoir on the Doubrava stretches a romantic valley with smaller rock outcrops and mixed woodland.

The dam structure also includes an outflow tunnel that is an important wintering site for the barbastelle bat.

Village Center and Millrace

In the center of Pařížov there is an old millrace tunnel with a stone vault. Water flows through it beneath the extensive mill yard and the foundations of the adjacent barn. The vaulted section is approximately 30 meters long, excluding the bridge. The tunnel is on private property and is not accessible to the public.

Pařížov can be reached by bus via Běstvina or Pařížov; Třemošnice is also mentioned as an alternative.
